Eumundi Placemaking: Stage 1 Memorial Drive Streetscape Construction - August 2024 Update

Sunshine Coast Council have issued ‘Construction Notification #2’ for the Eumundi Placemaking Memorial Drive Streetscape Project.

An extract of Key Highlights from Council's Construction Notification Stage 1 August 2024, including Memorial Drive parking changes, vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist access, traffic flow, alternate off-street free parking parking for staff and visitors, and upgrades for Stage 1, with crucial project links are provided below.
A flyer to assist businesses with providing project and parking information to customers and staff is also in production by the Eumundi Chamber of Commerce and will be distributed once finalised.

1. Construction Timeline: Stage One begins August 5, 2024, focusing on Memorial Drive between Bank Arcade and the Eumundi markets upper terrace food court area until late October 2024.
2. Working Hours:
- Day works: Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm
- Night works (if required): Sunday to Thursday, 6pm to 6am
3. Access Maintained: Vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist access will remain available to Memorial Drive, local businesses, and markets during standard trading hours.
4. Parking Changes:
- Some on-street parking areas will be temporarily closed or converted to traffic lanes.
- Free temporary parking is available in the upper Experience Eumundi car park near the Arundell Street, Memorial Drive and Napier Road intersection roundabout (approx 200m from CWA building) on non-market trading days, 6am to 6pm.
- Access is through the boom gate entrance on Napier Road with a short walk through the Amphitheatre and Market Terraces precinct.
5. Traffic Flow: Two-way traffic will be retained along Memorial Drive, with possible alternative routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
6. Upgrades Include: Raised pedestrian crossing, seating area, upgraded footpath, landscaping, water fountain, and public art (projected lighting). Stage 1 plan can be viewed here.
7. Staff Parking: Business owners are urged to direct staff to park in alternative locations to maximise customer parking.
