Business Resources for August 2021
Online search tool to help you locate support, including financial assistance or other types of relief available from the Queensland and Australian governments, plus Queensland local councils if your business has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
With the Sunshine Coast Regional Council LGA subject to lockdown restrictions from Saturday 31 July 2021 to Sunday 8 August 2021, your business may be eligible for financial support through the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants.
Grants of $5,000 (excluding GST), which can be used for business expenses, will be made available to small and medium businesses across Queensland affected by the COVID-19 lockdown that commenced on Saturday 31 July 2021 and lockdowns in other states.
Applications are expected to open Mid-August. You will need to apply online with supporting evidence. Grants will be processed in the order received. Please note that eligibility criteria do apply. Click the link for more information.
As announced by the Australian Government during the lockdown restrictions from Saturday 31 July 2021 to Sunday 8 August 2021, a lump-sum payment for people who lost work and income due to a Queensland COVID-19 public health order is now available through Services Australia.

Business Queensland have released the details of additional Queensland Government Support Package announced this morning, which includes an expansion of the 2021 COVID19 Business Support Grants to include large tourism and hospitality businesses statewide, along with Payroll tax deferral, waiver of liquor licensing fees for 2021-22, and a 12 month fee waiver or refund of inbound tour operators fees.
The Queensland COVID19 Cleaning Rebate provides support for small and medium businesses and not-for-profit’s listed as an exposure site by Queensland Health.
“This rebate applies to businesses that undertake an eligible professional clean in the 2021–22 financial year - this includes businesses that may have undertaken cleaning aligned to the South East Queensland and Townsville lockdown that commenced on 29 June 2021.”
Following the announcement of an extended lockdown on Saturday 31 July 2021, Queensland businesses were provided with the chance to have their questions about business assistance answered from government decision makers at webinar on Wednesday 4 August 2021, arranged by CCIQ.

Panellists responded to pre-submitted questions from businesses and industry groups regarding the support packages available for small business in Queensland.
The QSBC provides information and advocacy support to small businesses, and informal resolution and mediation of COVID-19 affected small business leases.
If your business has suffered a reduction in turnover due to the COVID-19 emergency during the response period or extension period, you may be eligible to negotiate rent relief with your landlord under the Regulation.
Support includes professional advice consultations and workshops for business owners, access to the Level Up digital upskilling program and B-Well + Prosper mental health and well-being portal, as well as funding and grants.
